Helping Kids Through the Pain
Children who suffer from facial deformities or extreme cases of scarring have the opportunity to have their life changed through an opportunity that many of us take for granted – surgery. For these children, this can be a moment that changes their lives forever and sets them on a path towards a positive future.
HELPS International is a 501-(c3) nonprofit providing enduring programs of practical, social and spiritual value to people in the developing world through a system of partnership and mutual responsibility. Since 1984, they have worked on the ground in Guatemala to create quality programs and lasting partnerships. Because sustainability is at the core of everything they do, when you change lives with HELPS, you change them for generations to come. They are guided by our strong commitment to service and the belief that they serve others best by working alongside them as they move toward independence. We know that handouts don’t work–but helping people help themselves does.
Community Is Stronger Than Cancer
The mission of Cancer Support Community is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are EMPOWERED by knowledge, STRENGTHENED by action, and SUSTAINED by community.
In 1982, Harold and Harriet Benjamin transformed the way our culture faces cancer. Harriet, a cancer survivor herself, sought to create an organization that would provide social and emotional support to not only cancer patients, but also to families, friends, and caregivers. The Benjamins strongly encouraged psychosocial care because they believed in a strong correlation between emotional and physical well-being.
Over the past 31 years, CSCP has served tens of thousands of people challenged with cancer. The organization currently provides ten weekly support groups and one monthly support group facilitated by professional mental health therapists, and over 125 monthly education workshops led by experts in their field along with stress management classes.
