Restylane®

What is Restylane?

Restylane® is a line of dermal fillers that use hyaluronic acid to provide a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. Restylane® Refyne, Lyft, and Defyne smooth out wrinkles, lines, and folds. Restylane® Silk provides lip enhancement and volume. Restylane® Lyft adds volume and plumpness to the cheeks.

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body that diminishes as we age. This causes our skin to lose volume and for lines, folds, and wrinkles to appear, while our cheeks hollow and lips become thinner. By injecting hyaluronic acid back into the skin, you can restore volume, add plumpness to the cheeks, enhance the lips, and smooth out wrinkles. Each Restylane® product is made with different size particles. Smaller particles are ideal for fine lines and detailed shaping, while larger particles work best with severe wrinkles and loss of volume.

Procedure

The length of a Restylane® procedure can vary depending on several factors, including the number of areas to be treated and the amount of filler required. In general, the procedure takes around 15-30 minutes to complete per area.

Recovery

The recovery time after a Restylane® treatment is usually minimal. Many patients are able to resume their normal activities immediately after the procedure. However, some individuals may experience mild swelling, redness.

Results

Restylane® can be used to address a wide range of concerns, including fine lines and wrinkles, volume loss in the cheeks and lips, and deep folds and creases. The results are typically subtle and natural-looking.

Who Qualifies for Restylane®?

Restylane® is generally considered a safe and effective treatment for individuals who are looking to address signs of aging or enhance their facial features. However, not everyone is a good candidate for this treatment. Individuals who are over 21 years of age, in good general health, have realistic expectations for the outcome of the treatment, are not pregnant or breastfeeding, are not allergic to any of the ingredients in Restylane®, and have no history of bleeding disorders or are not taking medications that increase the risk of bleeding may qualify for Restylane®.

It is important to note that Restylane® is not recommended for individuals with active skin infections, inflammation, or other skin conditions in the area to be treated. Additionally, it may not be suitable for individuals with certain medical conditions, such as autoimmune disorders or a history of severe allergies.

What to Expect?

Before undergoing Restylane® treatment, you can expect to have a consultation with a qualified healthcare provider. During this consultation, the provider will assess your individual needs, discuss your treatment goals, and determine whether Restylane® is an appropriate treatment option for you.

You may be asked to provide information about your medical history and any medications or supplements you are currently taking. You may also be advised to avoid certain medications or supplements, such as blood-thinning agents, prior to the treatment to minimize the risk of bleeding or bruising.

In some cases, the provider may recommend applying a topical anesthetic to the treatment area to minimize discomfort during the injection process. You should also avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours before the treatment to minimize the risk of bruising.
