What are Hip Implants?
Hip implants can be a part of gender-affirming surgery for transgender individuals seeking to align their physical appearance with their gender identity. The shape of the hips is important for creating an hourglass figure, and our procedure can safely achieve this while taking into account the patient’s body type and desired outcome.
Dr. Rogers personalizes the hip implants to match the natural contours of the patient’s body, using small incisions made in the bikini area. Depending on the amount of fat available, fat grafting may also be considered. Our services include hip implants as a standalone treatment or in conjunction with other body contouring procedures. However, results can vary depending on the individual’s body and healing process.
Procedure
The duration of a hip implant surgery can differ depending on the unique circumstances of the individual and the surgical approach chosen by the surgeon. Nevertheless, the surgery generally lasts for about 1 to 3 hours.
Recovery
After undergoing hip implant surgery, the majority of patients can resume normal walking as early as one day following the surgery. Light exercise may be resumed two weeks post-surgery, while strenuous exercise can be resumed after a month.
Anesthesia
Anesthesia type for hip implant surgery is determined by the surgeon based on patient's medical history and individual case, and can be either general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation.
