Bellafill®

What is Bellafill?

Bellafill® is a dermal filler that is used to reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles, acne scars, and other types of scars. It is a long-lasting filler made of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that are suspended in a collagen gel.

When injected into the skin, Bellafill® immediately adds volume to the treated area, filling in wrinkles and lines. The collagen gel also stimulates the body’s natural collagen production, which helps to maintain the results of the treatment over time.

One of the unique aspects of Bellafill® is its long-lasting effects. Unlike some other dermal fillers that are absorbed by the body over time, Bellafill® provides long-term results, with some patients reporting that their results have lasted for up to five years.

Procedure

The length of the Bellafill® procedure can vary depending on the areas being treated and the amount of filler needed. Generally, the treatment can take anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.

Recovery

The recovery time for Bellafill® treatment is typically minimal, with most patients being able to return to their normal activities immediately after the procedure.

Results

The results of the treatment can be seen immediately after the procedure and improve over time. Patients can expect to see a reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, folds, and scars, with a smoother complexion.

Who Qualifies for Bellafill®?

Bellafill® is generally recommended for healthy adults over the age of 21 who are looking to improve the appearance of wrinkles, folds, and scars. However, not everyone is a good candidate for Bellafill® treatment.

Individuals who have a history of severe allergies or anaphylaxis, or who are allergic to any of the ingredients in Bellafill®, should not receive the treatment. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also avoid Bellafill® injections.

In addition, individuals who have an active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, or who have a history of bleeding disorders or autoimmune diseases, may not be suitable candidates for Bellafill® treatment.

What to Expect?

A month before your Bellafill® procedure, you must have your skin tested for allergies. If your skin shows no adverse reactions in a month, you may schedule your procedure. The skin is cleaned and your doctor injects the filler under your wrinkles or folds. Bellafill® contains lidocaine, an anesthetic, so the procedure is not painful. There is no downtime and side effects are rare because of the pre-testing. Side effects can include mild bruising and redness, which typically subsides in a few days. Most patients require two treatments, which can be scheduled 3-6 weeks apart.

Before receiving Bellafill®, patients will undergo a thorough evaluation with a healthcare professional to determine if they are a good candidate for the treatment. The healthcare professional will also discuss the risks and benefits of the treatment, as well as any potential side effects, to help the patient make an informed decision.
