What is Jaw Implants/Reduction?
Jaw implants or jaw augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure that involves adding synthetic materials or natural tissue to the jawline to enhance its definition and improve the overall appearance of the face. The implants are typically made of silicone or other biocompatible materials and are inserted through small incisions made inside the mouth.
Jaw reduction, on the other hand, is a procedure that involves removing a portion of the bone from the jaw to make it less prominent. It is often performed on patients who have an overly large or wide jaw that may cause discomfort or a disproportionate appearance.
Procedure
The duration of a jaw implant or reduction procedure can vary depending on the specific technique used and the complexity of the individual case. In general, the procedure typically takes between 1 to 3 hours to complete.
Recovery
Most patients can return to work and resume their normal activities within 10-14 days after the procedure, but the final results may take several weeks to fully develop. Patients may need to avoid solid foods and stick to a soft or liquid diet for a few days.
Anesthesia
Both jaw implants and jaw reduction procedures are typically performed under general anesthesia. This means that the patient is fully asleep and will not feel any pain or discomfort during the procedure.

Who Qualifies for Jaw Implants/Reduction?
Cultural ideals of physical attractiveness are not the same for everyone. While most physical characteristics are shared the world over, differences in feature, contour, and proportion do exist between people of varying ethnic backgrounds. Cosmetic surgery techniques have evolved to address the nuances between the European and ethnic physiology, as well as meet the needs of each individual patient.
If you are struggling with loss of facial structure, due to age, injury, or disease – or are simply interested in improving the features and contours of your face – Jaw Implants can correct and strengthen your jawline, restoring a youthful balance to your whole face.
A patient who has a heavy, overly-squared, or outwardly-flaring mandible (which can diminish the more delicate features of the face) will commonly request a Jawbone Reduction.
